Take the Life Challenge!
August 25th, 2008 by djyoung

During the recent summer Olympics, we all watched young athletes take on extreme challenges to their bodies, their minds and their will…
But, if we were to ask every one of those amazing athletes, we’d find they didn’t do it alone along the way! There were parents, coaches, mentors all rallying around those athletes. Each contributing, supporting, sacrificing to make that Olympic dream happen.
Here at Life 89.1, we’ve got a big challenge ahead of us, too. Our Fall Sharathon is just days away - Sept. 16-18th.
And, like those Olympic athletes, we can’t go it alone. We need YOU and Your Family to rally around Life 89.1 together we CAN meet this challenge.
How?
Ask your family to take the “Life Challenge.” Between now and Sept. 16, try cutting back on one or two “extras” that can then be contributed to Life 89.1’s Fall Sharathon. Say, giving up one restaurant meal per week… or maybe playing a board game at home instead of renting movies… The savings really add up! And, by contributing what you’ve saved to the Life 89.1 Fall Sharathon, you will help us to continue leading people closer to Christ.
Some ideas for the Life Challenge:
-Car Pool to church for a few Sundays with another family close by.
-Turn the A/C thermostat up a few degrees during the day while everyone’s at work/school.
-Pack your kid’s lunches for a week and skip the cafeteria lunch line.
-When you go to restaurants, skip the Coke and order water.

Be creative! Debbie, a listener, has challenged her family to take shorter showers! It does add up at the end of the month.
Our family is going to take our typical eat out monies for 30 days from our budget and also do haircuts at home for the kids instead of the barbershop and use the $175 as our contribution to LIFE 89.1 as part of the LIFE Challenge for Sharathon!
My family is taking the money we usually budget for restaurant meals and setting it aside as a gift… instead of restaurants, we’ve done picnics at the beach and barbecues - WAY cheaper, and just as much fun…
